Reputation

Because of the real-world interactive nature of event participation, we needed to create a system that allows the community to evaluate the reputation of a given user to help increase the chance that they will contribute positively to an event before they can attend.

Note - the current maximum reputation score is set at 100. We are also considering some form of 'retainer function' whereby for example, if a given user does not participate for more than 3 months, their score starts to reduce.

DID

Vold uses Decentralised Identity NFTs (DID) as the core of building reputation and enabling users with the capability to manage their online presence. These NFTs represent a unique and immutable identity on Blockchains and are used to store the user’s personal information and data in a decentralized manner. The minimal information we retain is encrypted and stored securely whilst allowing the information to be used to access online services and applications without the need for handing control to any single entity or centralized database once verified.

It is also important to understand how the VOLD ecosystem has been designed to be a decentralized, self-governing network that is coordinated through the use of the $VOLD token. This is modeled on the idea of a network of trust, similar conceptually in the way that the issuance of SSL certs keeps the internet secure and how many forums use some form of 'Kudos' to indicate the contribution a given user has made. Our protocol is based on these principles.

Calculating Reputation

There are essentially two key groups of data that are used to calculate a given users reputation:

How identifiable is the user: Being identifiable ensures that any potential bad actors will be known and thus decreases the chance of bad actor participation. All users will need to share a base level of information to be able to use the platform; it is simply not practical to allow users to 'verify anonymously'.

What has the user contributed: The more a given user has contributed to the ecosystem, the larger their history of good deeds, and thus they are more likely to continue to contribute positively.
